Pool Closure Update

We know how hot is out there and how much you would like to visit the pool. Unfortunately, due to the recent spike of confirmed COVID-19 cases (18,602 in Bexar County: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/county-map.html?state=TX) Bridgewood’s pool will remain closed until cases start going down and the Board of Directors (BOD) can revisit the issue.

Across the nation, only 7% of pools have opened as scheduled this season, with reasons being cited as fear of exposure to legal liability (58%); fear of spreading COVID-19 (50%); and attorney recommendation (48%), according to a new report issued by the Community Associations Institute (CAI) (https://www.caionline.org/Documents/CAs%26Covid19ImpactSurveyPools070820.pdf?utm_source=Real%20Magnet&[email protected]&utm_content=All%20Members%3A%20Pools%20Impact%20Results&utm_campaign=156569964). These are the exact concerns with opening the pool that your Director’s share.

While no refunds on your current assessments will be issued, the sitting BOD in Sep/Oct 2020 will decide while working on the budget whether to credit all residents’ next year’s assessments by the estimated amount spent per homeowner on lifeguard and pool fees that are currently not accruing due to the closure. The idea has also been brought up to instead use the savings to improve the pool amenity by adding sunshades or something of the like.
